First Divine Liturgy Served in Weatherford / Clinton Area
As wonderful as the daily Readers Matins and Vespers services have been, there’s nothing like serving with a priest – just as there’s no other service like the Divine Liturgy.
The Tuesday evening Vespers service with Fr. Michael was very blessed but today’s Liturgy was even more so.The Liturgy is always grace-filled of course, but experiencing the Church’s Eucharistic worship in an area (the entire Western half of a state) where it has never been offered is a particular privilege.
We are all very grateful to Fr. Michael for making the 4.5 hr. drive to minister to us as well as taking an entire day out his busy schedule. And I’m especially thankful to Joel and Tessi Wilson for sacrificing an entire month of their lives to help us lay the foundation for the mission. As I said to Fr. Justin (our supervisor), it became pretty clear to me early in this work that it really is a two-person task – just as it became clear Joel was God’s choice to partner with me this summer – it was perfect.
They leave tomorrow after Matins to new work God has called them to for the remainder of the summer. Providentially Bev completes her nursing internship tonight and will join me for many of the services for the remainder of my time here this summer. We also have three men in the area that have begun attending (the most recent at the Divine Liturgy), who, God willing we will see much more of this summer as well.
